Spirulina platensis microalgae are among the most valuable alkaline natural substances of our time. In their natural habitat (subtropical alkaline soda lakes), they grow using the primal force of photosynthesis and produce large amounts of chlorophyll. Spirulina is not a marine alga, but thrives in alkaline water (pH 9–11) in conditions as close to nature as possible and is controlled according to strict German food laws.
Spirulina is characterized by a particularly high carotenoid content, approximately 55 times higher than in carrots. Spirulina also contains a significant amount of valuable chlorophyll.
